Volunteer – It’s How the Work Gets Done!
At KidZone Museum, we inspire a love of learning and create fun family experiences for young children.
Our amazing volunteers make all the difference! Your time helps families in the Truckee-Tahoe area, and we couldn’t do it without you.
Thank you for volunteering with us. Welcome to the KidZone Museum family!
Volunteer opportunities
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the KidZone Museum is also a committed group of volunteers. Representatives of this group are parents, attorneys, child development specialists and nonprofit professionals. Tenure on the Board has tended to be long, with some members remaining involved for many years – which demonstrates the level of commitment. We also strongly rely on our committed group of donors as well as our grant sources to be able to keep the doors open and to fund the projects that help our children explore, discover and learn.
Exhibits Committee
Exhibits Committee volunteers are grandparents, parents and community members who create and build custom exhibits unique to KidZone Museum. The hand crafted exhibits are filled with play that helps a child’s social, physical, cognitive and creative development. This committee always has room for people interested in keeping the play for our children engaging and creative.
Other opportunities
Planning Committee volunteers network with municipalities, help with administration needs and get us ready to campaign for a permanent building!
Fundraising Committee volunteers are a social group who engage people in the community in our work. Committee members plan our museum tours that showcase our work, and plan and host our annual fundraising breakfast or lunch in November. We welcome anyone who wants to help strengthen the museum’s financial stability so we can grow our programs, exhibits and staffing.
Gardener: We need someone who loves to garden and create learning areas in our garden for children such as composting, a bee and butterfly flower bed and all sort of fun learning opportunities. We need someone (or two folks) all summer long and you can create your own schedule.
Scientist, Engineers, Early Learning Teachers, Artists are always in demand at the museum to help us with special learning initiatives. We can not fill all the expertise we need within our small staff so we welcome experts in our community to share their knowledge with children and make the museum a strong learning experience.
Events: We need your help for our awesome events! The Family Farm Festival, Airshow & Family Festival, and other events are in need of face painters, greeters, and more.
