KidZone Museum Summer Camps

With a wide variety of camps for ages 4 to 12, we have something for every child!

Camp notes:

  • KidZone Museum members receive discounts on camps. Become a member today.
  • Camps have a minimum enrollment and a maximum limit of 12-14 campers.
  • Waivers must be signed and turned in upon enrollment.
  • Camp scholarship are available. Contact the museum for details.

Before sign-up confirmation, a waiver MUST be completed, signed and submitted to the Museum. Download the waiver.

Camps for Ages 4-6

 

Farm Camp

In various locations in Truckee, campers will experience hands-on exploration and investigation of farming, growing, composting, planting, and earth art. We will visit local farms and gardens. Transportation required.

Let's Build Together Lego Camp

Build a foundation for engineering with LEGOS! Create sturdy walls, a tower and other fun projects in this class for young builders only. In this camp, young builders learn about shapes, colors, patterns, and counting while playing with their own creations.

Camps for Girls, Ages 5-6

 

Girl Powered Legos - For Girls who Love to Build!

Play-Well TEKnologies joins the KidZone Museum to offer this amazing camp for girls who love to build! Taught by women engineers and scientists, this camp will provide a supportive environment for girls to build engineer-designed projects such as boats, bridges, mazes, and motorized cars. Explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.

Camps for Ages 6-8

 

Chemistry Camp

Anyone at any age can become a chemist. Every kitchen is a treasure-trove of chemical reactions. Explore the chemistry, while experimenting with household materials. Make chocolate bowls, bubble gum and ice cream using science. Come experiment with us and mix some new concoctions.

TINS Junior Entomologists

Transportation required. In various outdoor locations in Truckee, young campers will explore under logs, dig in the dirt, investigate plants, and in tree bark in search of hidden insects. They will also learn what these bugs eat and their important jobs in the ecosystem.

Electricity Camp

Campers will learn the basics of electricity by exploring the physical principles involved, and then building a variety of circuits and devices that demonstrate its many uses. Explore Squishy circuits, dissect toys, make scrabble machines, light up a house and play with batteries, motors, wires and more. And, of course, all will enjoy free play at the museum with new friends.

Camps for Girls, Ages 7-11

 

Girl-Powered Engineering Fundamentals Lego Camp

Play-Well TEKnologies joins the KidZone Museum with this offering for girls who love to build! Taught by women engineers and scientists, this camp will provide a supportive environment for girls to apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects, such as arch bridges, motorized cars, skyscrapers and amusement parks! Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in an interactive environment.

Camps for Ages 8-10

 

Avian Adventures - NEW!

Transportation required. In various locations around Truckee, campers will spend the week learning about our local birds, how to identify birds by sight and sound, play bird theme games, and create bird art while exploring local nature areas and having fun with fellows campers. Binoculars and field guides are provided during the week. This camp is a must for your budding ornithologist.

Camps for Ages 9-12

 

TINS Tahoe Explorers

In this very popular camp, kids will learn about wildlife ecology, forest ecology, water ecology, and geology of the Tahoe Basin while hiking, kayaking around Lake Tahoe and learning from various natural Tahoe science experts. Transportation and all activities fees are included.
