Family Fun Friday

Date: Fridays
Time: 11 a.m.
Ages: All ages
Location: KidZone Museum
Cost: Free for members and with admission.

This is a play-based class designed to inspire and enrich kids’ brains, bodies and hearts. These classes are all about exploration and discovery, where curiosity is treasured and kids are encouraged to feel, touch and learn through sensory activities. Let your kid communicate through art and have some good, Family Fun Friday!

Friday, December 15 - Watercolor Garlands
Watercolor is a great medium for kids! It’s affordable, mixes well, cleans up quickly, and doesn’t stain clothing. Kids will learn the possibilities of what watercolors can do with this artistic holiday project.

Friday, December 22 - Beaded Ornaments
Pipe cleaners and craft beads go hand-in-hand. They’re easy for little hands, and the beads stay put on the pipe cleaners. They’re super simple and can add some homemade charm to your Christmas tree.

Friday, December 29 - New Year Fireworks
Come and celebrate the new year with this activity for the whole family. Firework art teaches children about color, color mixing, and abstract art. Come learn how to make your own homemade “firework art.”

Friday, January 5 - Winter Sensory Exploration
White rice with polar animals, shaving cream with water beads, instant snow, candy cane peppermint slime, snow and watercolors. Your child’s senses will be engaged, and those neural connections will form as they use their sense of touch, smell, sight and hearing.

Friday, January 12 - Foil Painting
In this sensory experience, we will invite children to explore aluminum foil and paint. Foil can go from being very smooth to bumpy and wrinkly. This creates a unique texture experience for young children, and is a great opportunity to expand descriptive vocabulary.

Friday, January 19 - Shaving Cream Snowmen
In this fun activity, children are invited to explore the wonderful texture of shaving cream and experience what it feel like to spread it all over paper. This helps with the development of fine motor skills and creativity. At the end, you’ll end up with a fluffy, puffy snowman!

Friday, January 26 - Snowflake Craft
Making snowflakes is a classic winter activity and kids are thrilled with the outcome. Kids love using scissors, and it helps them develop their fine motor skills.
